It’s hard being a mother!
Posted by Esther under: Hock .
The rest of the day I was a quasi-mother as I picked up the girls from school, helped them with homework, fed, entertained, undressed and PJed, and (attempted to) put them to sleep. I also gave the baby a bath and put his cozy sleeper on. Yum, I love babies right out of the bath. Spaghetti went over well, but was a little messy. S refused to go to sleep and I didn’t know what to do. The baby cried for the longest time in the crib, and tried calling every one of his parents and siblings to come save him. I took him out and he was happy but was SOOO tired so I put him back in. At the end of the night I was exhausted and wondered how does my sister do this every day? I clean the house and am exhausted. And think I need a medal in the Guiness world records. How do mothers accross the world have the energy, patience, dedication and stamina to deal with all that comes with child-rearing?! And with absolutely no thanks at all….
I guess it’s good they usually come one at a time, right?

Might be hard to be a mom, but you make being a fabulous aunt sound easy! You are so good for helping your sister out, I’m glad you had a good day, even if it was tiring.

I used to do this all the time. I even spent the night a couple of times. Now that I’m busier, it’s harder to give as much time, so I relish the opportunities I do have. Even if they are tough.

BTW, the two big girls just went into bed, only about two hours later than usual. And here comes C, wants me to changer her linen. Boy these excuses are better than what we came up with when we were young!

It’s hard being an Aunt because they take advantage of you, thank G-d, it’s much more organized and fun when the kids are your own. You can do it, it’s going to be fun and wonderful when it happens!!

In the “appreciated aunt” category, I tried talking to N-CME on the phone earlier today but she completely ignored the “real” phone in favor of the toy cell phone that Uncle SFE and I bought for her. At least she rejected me for a toy that we bought her, as opposed to one that she got from somoene else…
