This Week in Review…

Thursday, February 8th, 2007

Adiel here. This last shabbos we went to the Langsners in Brooklyn even though non of the siblings were there. Just Esther, myself, 2 chabad sem girls who are cousins to the L family, and the Langsner parents. I made cookies for them as a treat and everyone lived happily ever after… until we went to the Super Bowl Party in Dougies in Queens and busted some guys up for calling the Bears a cruddy team (j/k). We were rooting for the Bears, but Indianapolis just rocked them.

Mon-Thursday – i continued doing work in my PC biz while my wife went to work to earn the real ca$h which supports this family. i helped with dinner 3 times this week: 1 night i made AWESOME shnitzel, another i made pasta with SUPER sauce and tonight i made a salad (with knife techniques learned from the Food Network website). woo hoo.

It amazes me how times flies by sooo fast.

This Shabbos we’re going to my mother in law (cough-cough, ahem) and going to the lower east side chinese auction on motzei shabbos.

I’m gonna go surf over to Hashkafah.com and find out what people are talking about re: Anna Nicole Smith kicking her bucket today.  Have a GR8 Shabbos!

Last night was a very busy night and this morning we woke up and got to work and my friend looks at me and says “You’re back already.” And I’m like ‘Huh?’ And then it hit me like a ton of bricks — I had a cousin’s bris in Lawrence today and I totally forgot. Ouch.

I really was excited to go to the Bris cuz they are one of only two family members close by and I really like these people. How could I have forgotten?! Then my mom says “I would’ve reminded you, but I didn’t want to pressure you into going.” She really tries to hard to give me independence. :) . Next time I will tell her to remind me. (Plus I missed a good breakfast :( )

So now, I have to try to make amends. I guess I am giong to call and wish mazel tov and say we really wanted to come but it just didn’t work out. I can’t say I forgot, that’s just horrible. I hope they forgive me.

BLAH.

It’s annoying to post when you don’t think anyone is reading. :( . Maybe we should threaten to close down Hashkafah.com until people start reading and commenting.

Superbowl XLI

So Adiel and I were some of the lucky fans to have gotten tickets to the SuperBowl!!! What a blast it was!!

Yeah, right. OK, that picture is from a Giant’s game we went to where they got blown out by the New Orleans Saints.

Here’s the real story: :)

Adiel and I are always looking for an excuse to party, and the Superbowl presented a perfect one. Even though neither of us are crazy fans, we still wanted to find a place to watch and cheer. After making a dozen phone calls, Adiel realized that the closest kosher place that was doing it was Dougies’ in Queens. So we went there.

It was loads of fun. THe place was pretty packed and lots of people were cheering. There was an all-you-can-eat buffet which we both chose and definitely ate all that we could. There were two TVs and we had to manipulate the tables a little to make sure we could both see, hear and eat comfortably. We were going for the Chicago Bears  and they scored only 14 seconds into the game!! The first half was very exciting with the ending being 16-14 at the end. I couldn’t believe that they were playing in the pouring rain!! The football kept slipping and it was fun. Lots of people were cheering. The ads were also cool but we couldn’t hear everything. Also there was this fat guy that kept getting up and blocking us.:(

The second quarter was more boring cuz Indianappolis was really in control. We left after the Bears threw an interception that the Colts transformed into a Touchdown. All in all, it was lots of fun and we ate very well too! I’m glad that we were warm and dry and not sitting in the rain either.

I am an ESFP

Saturday, February 3rd, 2007

Me and Adiel took those personality tests. What fun! (And partially BS) I mean I like to have fun, but I definitely have my quiet moments as well.

Extraverted
Sensing with
Introverted Feeling

STRENGTHS
ESFPs are warm, friendly, supportive individuals. Exuberant, optimistic and fun-loving, they enjoy variety and change and actively seek out new, exciting challenges. Spontaneous and easy-going, they have a great capacity to enjoy life to the full. Using their Sensing function directly to perceive the known facts in a given situation, they approach problems in a pragmatic, realistic, down-to-earth way. Having little interest in abstract theoretical issues, they will be concerned to find practical solutions to concrete, real-world problems. Moreover, when solving such problems, they will be concerned to bear in mind others’ needs and feelings. Tolerant, open-minded and flexible, they may resist too much structure and routine. Having a natural empathic understanding of people, they are accepting of others’ idiosyncrasies, and are not judgmental, dogmatic or opinionated. Focusing on practical realities and the achievable, they do not needlessly cling to traditional, out-moded approaches.

INTERPERSONAL RELATIONSHIPS
Orientated towards the Extraverted world of people and external events, ESFPs are lively, talkative, outgoing individuals. Sensitive to others’ feelings, they will not needlessly criticise colleagues in meetings and discussions. Others will generally be quick to warm to them, appreciating their enthusiasm and zest for life, and the active support and encouragement they freely offer. Expedient and goal-directed, they will want to achieve results with a minimum of effort and fuss, and a maximum of fun. Flexible and free-thinking, they are open to alternative points of view. Averse to conflict and discord, they may resist organising colleagues, preferring instead to work alongside people in an egalitarian manner. Sympathetic, tactful and understanding, they will work to resolve disagreements by actively seeking compromise and consensus. Disliking routine, they will plunge into things with great energy and enthusiasm, creating innovative solutions to problems as they arise.

THINKING STYLE
Having little interest in abstract theoretical debate and discussion, ESFPs are known for their pragmatic approach to solving problems, and tendency to focus on the known facts, and practical realities, in a given situation. However, their pragmatism and down-to-earth realism does not cause them to be dogmatic or closed minded, with them being open to new methods and ideas – particularly when they can see the practical advantages of adopting new approaches. Flexible and free-thinking, they will be concerned to understand others’ points of view, even if these are radically different from their own perspective. Sensitive to others’ feelings, they will wish to consider the impact their actions will have upon those around them, before deciding on a course of action. Inclined to focus on the ‘broader picture’, they may not always see the point of closely adhering to set procedures and systems. Similarly, attending to the detailed requirements of a task may not come naturally to them.

HOW OTHERS MAY SEE YOU
Colleagues will value their pragmatic, down-to-earth realism and their lively enthusiasm for all that goes on around them. Open and accepting of others, they will be viewed as fair-minded and tolerant. Co-operative and egalitarian, they will be happy to help colleagues and friends. However their egalitarian style, and desire to manage by consensus, may be misinterpreted by some as indicating an inability to take unpopular decisions. Avoiding dogmatism, they will be seen as open-minded, independent thinkers. However, more cautious colleagues may at times worry about their readiness to discard established systems and procedures, when seeking immediate solutions to current problems. Moreover, some colleagues may view them as being a little disorganised at times. Thoughtful and considerate, others may at times try to take advantage of their altruism. Willing to listen, and sensitive to others’ feelings, colleagues will value the active support and encouragement they offer.

Going to Brooklyn 4 Shabbos

Friday, February 2nd, 2007

My beloved and I will be going to Brooklyn for Shabbos this week. I ‘ve prepared my yummy and most awesome cookies for the occasion.

I did a bunch of work this week but no new clients for my PC business. I realy have to be a lot more agressive in trying to close customers and recruit businesses to my services. Maybe I’ll do some door to door sales this next week.

Here is a short vort for those who wanna say some good stuff at the Shabbos table:

The gemora says that ‘Ein Torah nitna ela l’ochlei hamon’ – ‘The Torah was not given except to those who ate manna’. so what’s pshat?

Pshat is in the manna itself – it was a perfect food and produced no waste. bread from the ground, on the other hand – has a lot of stuff that could be filtered out and eventually – does produce waste. so too the attitude of the people who ate the manna affected their Torah and didnt let anything go to waste. but we have to continue that and not ‘pick and choose’ what we want to keep and what we don’t (cafeteria Jews).

Good Shabbos!
