Diets

I hate them. So much. I hate not being able to eat yummy stuff.

Adiel started the ‘Fit for Life’ diet where you eat fruit for breakfast and either carbs or protein for lunch and dinner. He’s really being good at it and inspiring me too do it too. But can you imagine not eating Pizza or spaghehtti and meatballs ever again?! :(

I want to lose weight, and need to in order to fit into certain things and qualify for the ultimate life insurance. So how do I go about doing it?

I want to excersice, but I am lazy and get tired easily. I’m hoping to do walking with a friend when the weather gets nicer. SR is already doing that — good for her! I downloaded a Cardio aerobics DVD but its hard and long and I just have little motivation to do it.

Now as for dieting: I am not a sweets or chocolate nut. Can forgo cakes, ice cream, chips, candies and nosh. I also can replace sugar drinks with water. And eat veggies. But I hate limiting real food. Don’t tell me I can’t make baked ziti and I need to leave the caeser dressing off my salad. I dont want to!!
So now what do I do?

Also – diets are almost impossible cuz every time I start one and go good for a few days, along comes our favorite day of the week – Shabbos!! Two fattening, delicious, l’kavod shabbos meals. And there’s no way I’m skimping on Shabbos. So my motivation topples down and I lose interest and its back to square one.

Plus, I am still a newly-wed and want to make my hubby happy, not to mention impress any visitor that might walk through the door. And the best way to do that is with some delicious, home-made, maybe-fattening food….
Ideas anyone? (And I’m hungry now).

Small changes can make a difference, i.e. switch from whole milk to 2%, use part-skim mozzerella, leaner cuts of meat, chicken breast.

One of the best ways is to stay away from prepared items, such as things that you can easily pick up at a deli counter. If you prepare it yourself you know what you put into it.

Creativity goes a long way– don’t feel like eating a zillion veggies, but know they’re good for you–> make a soup…you can even turn a soup into a one pot meal by adding some protein and carbs– pressure cooker style :)

I like that attittude, a little change at a time. I can definitely do low or no-fat on a lot of foods and we do try and shy away from too many prepared foods. I just don’t think a little change at a time will do anything for my belly…

I have to buy a lot of veggies, and just keep using them for everything; salads, soups, bake them, even fry them (with pam)…

Actually, limiting calories is the way to go…trust me, I’m a professional dieter. I never lose weight unless I lift weights, lifting weights builds muscles that eat up calories. Give up the cardio if you don’t feel that you need to build to the ultimate life insurance and pick up weights. Start low, do three sets of 12 reps on each arm. I walk three miles a day, good for the heart but building muscles makes me lose weight. Stick to fruits in the AM, meat or fish and veggies at lunch. Then on Shabbes, don’t give up a thing!! Shabbos is for fressing and relaxing and then cut back the rest of the week.
    Hugs, RMM
