This past Shabbos, we actually did not finalize plans till Thursday night. We weren’t sure what we wanted to do and noone officially invited us and I really did want to stay home but not eat both meals alone at home.
THursday morning, my good friend Leah Fishelis (who lets me put her full name here) called to say her Shabbaton is cancelled, do we have Shabbos plans yet? I was so excited to write no! And she said great, I’m coming and you should invite Toby Adams too. The funny thing is that while this was going on, Adiel got a call from his friend, Y.G. to invite us to a kiddish he was making for his newborn daughter, but it would have been very far from anywhere we would be staying so Adiel said he’d ask me. When he did ask me, I told him the girls were already coming!
Well, that was very exciting and we cooked and cleaned and got ready for our orchim together. And when they showed up an hour before shabbos, the house smelled great and looked clean. It was so exciting to have my friends back and Leah hadn’t even seen the house at all!! So she was shepping nachas.
Friday night, Toby went to the Hechts so we had just Leah. We served homemade challah with an olive dip (A made) and tomato dip (E made), Adiel’s shticky fish, salad with dressing, chicken soup with matza balls, duck sauce chicken, squash sautee and Adiel’s potato kugel. EVerything was yummy and even though I thought we might have needed more food, this was more than enough. Desert was brownies and ice cream. After the meal, we shmoozed and reminisced about when we became good friends and our childhood together. Meanwhile, Adiel cleared the table and washed the dishes. How sweet. Toby came home after midnight with the hecht girls and another friend, and we shmoozed some more. Noone got to bed before 2 AM!
Shabbos morning, somehow Adiel woke up for minyan (how do guys always do that?!), and we all woke up between 10-11. We set the table and got dressed and Adiel came home and we started eating. Some more of the same challah and dips and fish and salad. Noone really wanted liver cuz it wasn’t the regular red kind, but I put it nicely on a plate with all sorts of garnishes. Then we had exploded deli roll (not enough pastry dough), leftoever chicken, and cholent with kishka and kugel. Everything was yummy.
Before bentching, Leah took out a game she brought, Apples to Apples, the Jewish edition. We played all 150 rounds for 3 hours — what a blast!! We were lauging and yelling and lobbying for our cards. We all ended with a similar number of cards, but I won by one 
.
Then we all took naps and afterwards, walked to the Hechts for SS. It was so fun – they have 7 girls and one little boy, and each girl had a friend or two over so you can imagine the table they had! We also visited S & C Friedman, old LESers who were excited to see us and want to have us over for a meal. We finished up, walked home, and it was time for Havdalah and the girls to leave 
All in all, it was loads of fun for all four of us, and I can’t wait to have them over again.
