And the big day…

Tuesday, June 26th, 2007

ann
…was so fun (dare I say almost as fun as the wedding). Let me tell you, it was a BIG thing that we made it to this day…(JK hon;)).

We did some really enjoyable activties to celebrate the year and commemerate our special day. Some of the activities included walking and boating in Central Park, a very expensive and delicious dinner at Mike’s Bistro (we met a friend on a date there – and he wasn’t even proposing – must be a rich dude!) and then we splurged on a hotel nearby. We also treated ourselves to a just-as-filling-brunch today which was 1/3 of the dinner’s price and even got to take home leftovers :) . We spent time reminiscing about the ups and downs of the last year – it’s so crazy how much happens in one year and how time just flies by….

Thanks so very much for all the well wishes from our friends and family – it means so much that you remembered!! I want to try and remember other people’s birthdays now…

Amongst some of the well-wishers via texting, emailing, and calling:

Leah F who was first :)
both Mommies
sister SR and her husband and my niece, Chaya Leah who read us a letter she wrote
Each one of the Langsner siblings and their parents called seperately! (Nooch % M, P&S, Shabs & Roch and C & M).
A bunch of my Mommy’s sisters: Aunt Raiselle, Aunt Tova and Aunt Sarah (who tried my home and cell phone)
Elisheva and Yitzy who we still haven’t seen their yummy baby and forgot to wish them anything on their big day :( (sorry)
Sorah L who wished us in person and sent a card! she’s so good with the card thing, never forgets a birthday or anniversary
Adina emailed me
Adiel’s friend Shaima called too.
And of course, we can’t forget the H.commers that left us comments here or on H.com, thanks guys!

In case we forgot anyone, I’m so sorry, and in case you forgot our anniversary, I’m telling you I don’t remember anything about anyone ever….

Anyway – party on!! Let’s make year number 2 even more fun, and wonderful! (Oh, and I just noticed the piles of laundary and dishes waiting to be done…too bad anniversaries aren’t like a whole week….)

Something Funny

Shtick in Editing

Thursday, June 21st, 2007

I saw this recipe once and totally forgot it. So I forced Esther to make stuff up as we go along for this video. Personally, some of the stuff she made up had me laughing pretty hard. It was only filmed so i can practice my editing skills.

Watch this from beginning to end and let me know what you think.

Love What You Do!

Wednesday, June 20th, 2007

Right now, I live a very blissful life. Although there are struggles and daily challenges, I find that there isn’t any place I’d rather be. I’m married to the most awesomest wife ever, work a job that I’ve built up (still could use a LOT more growth and revenue), spend time on special projects, live close to some great friends, in touch with family (uh, somewhat), and no boss beating my brain in for little pay.

How long will this good life last? I hope a nice long time. But, who knows? If we move or have kids, then it’s going to push me to either get a job or really start raking in the dough. Either way, there is something to be learned:

“Love what you do and it’s not called work. ”

Think about it. If I end up getting a job (or anyone for that matter), I might as well do something that won’t make me rush home to my wife because I feel bad that my boss is taking advantage of me.

Anyways, our 1st year of many many more happy years of marraige is coming to a close this week. I want to plan something special, but my brain is consumed by the work I love to do (j/k) .

Oh, and welcome to town, Nooch.

Cooking at the JCC

Monday, June 11th, 2007

This post was written Thursday but I couldn’t get the darn pics uploaded until today.

So, it’s finally time for an update. Just for the record, the more responses we get to our posts, the quicker a new entry comes on. And being that noone but Nooch and SAF had anything to say about our Pittsburg trip, we decided to make all you millions of readers wait to hear what else is going on in our lives :) .

Anyway, last night, I took Adiel out on a date. I know he has a keen interest in cooking and learning new techniques, so I signed the two of us up for a cooking class in the JCC of Manhattan, called ‘Quick Cooking for Two”. It was supposed to be all romantic, date-type of dishes, and the menu looked great so I chose that one to try.

We were 2 of about 11 students and assistants there and the kitchen – or culinary art center was big, fully stocked and looked ready for a great cooking experience. We put on aprons and introduced ourselves and then the class started.

The recipes all sounded yummy, some more gourmet than others. Unfortunately we left the menus there, but I’ll try to remember what the foods were. There was Snapper-avocado watermelon entree, Sea Bass, Potato mushroom salad, Rack of lamb, Roulade of duck, lingunie with tuna, tomatoes, and olives, and for dessert a mix of berries and poached pears. And a fancy type of berry liquor that the chef made himself. The real names were fancier but I forget most of them. Anyway, our head chef was Ari Ariel.

After explaining each recipe, he divided us into groups and everyone got to pick which 2 dishes they wanted to make. I immediately chose the linguine as I feel pasta is something I would make sooner than many of the other dishes. And it was a great choice, as we both decided it came out the best of all the dishes. But anyway, I digress. First we made the berry mix, and then it was time for the sauce for the pasta.

Here Adiel and I are hard at work cutting and chopping garlic, parsley, and olives for the sauce.

We added the tomatoes, and it smelled yum! (Though it looked a little like barf). Go Adiel, give it another stir!

We finished the sauce before all of the other teams and had to wait to put in the spaghetti until the rest of the foods were nearly ready. So we took the time to shmooze and get to know our classmates. Finally, it was time to put in the pasta. There was a HUGE pot for one little box so the pasta could move around.

Here’s our pasta all finished with the pasta and sauce mixed together. Doesn’t that look yummy.

We transfered the food to two different bowls and put in tongs and brought it to the serving table. We were ready to eat but had to wait a little longer for all the foods to be ready.

Finally, the foods were more or less ready. We were all starving as it was already after 9 and we had been working hard and smelling the delicious foods for over an hour. Doesn’t that table look gourmet! And it is still missing the rack of lamb which wasn’t quite ready.

Here it is: A feast fit for a king (and queen)! We finally sit down to enjoy our fruits (and other foods) of labor. We had all of the fish stuff first. Everything was yummy, but the spaghetti was definitely the best. Because the rack of lamb didn’t look 100% done, we packaged the lamb and duck rolls to go and had it the following night.

All in all, a very enjoyable, entertaining, educational (and expensive) evening. We left after 10 so didn’t have time to visit Batya and her husband who live right nearby. We did wave though…
