Cleaning for Pesach

Monday, April 6th, 2009

As the man of my house, it’s my job to make sure things get done. So with Esther being busy with the newest addition to our family, I decided to take off a days of work to help out with the kids and cleaning for Pesach.
Although, we’re going to my mother-in-law for the first and last days, we’d like to be able to make a pit stop at our apartment during chol hamoed when we’re doing our activities. So I rolled up my sleeves and have slowly ‘conquered’ small areas of my house of the chometz that lay around. The first and easiest area was Shaina’s room. Not much food lying around – but who knows what some guest ate while resting on a Shabbos afternoon. After we cleaned up that room, I went to our room (master bedroom) and took it apart. You know how much dust and gunk was underneath our beds and all about? I even found Esther’s new glasses she ‘lost’ shortly after buying them. So that’s all clean too.
And just when I thought that this lone ranger is the fastest, hardest-working, cleaner-upper in the east, my cleaning lay shows up to help. Whoa! She took apart my fridge, cleaned it, folded the laundry, did the dishes, made the guestroom bed, cleaned the high chair, the stove, packed up all the chometz to-go – in an hour!
I can justify it by saying that I don’t clean for a living, but in the end, it’s a justification. Either way, the house will be clean for Peach and we’ll be going out for dinner tonight – PIZZA!

Chag Kasher V’Sameach!
