1) Think of an idea thats genius!
2) Convince newlywed wife to take wedding monies and invest.
3) Plan out all the work and bring idea to life!
4) Discover that the world isn’t ready for your genius.
Mix well and bring back to newlywed wife who expects good ROI now that offspring has arrived (woo hoo).
Eat double portions when your sponsor can’t sell ANY when more than a few thousand customers parade his store daily.
Store the leftovers away from others in a large containment unit and continue to eat until your true genius is discovered.
Here is a short list of some tips I learned after going to a Susie Fishbein demonstration a while back:
1) Peeled chick peas = smooth chumus. It doesnt take long to go through a can of chick peas and pinch off the out layer. It’s worth the effort.
2) There are NO shortcuts on garlic. No one wants to admit this but garlic is always best when fresh. Don’t use frozen or canned garlic. it’s just not the same.
3) Different peppers give different flavors on the tongue. Not all peppers are peppers. And depending on the effect you want to have on your taster, change your pepper.
4) Tahini is NOT tahina.
5) Everything in your kitchen should have its place. Make sure you keep things in their place - so you don’t have to go looking for something when you need it.
6) “Cook to your eye”. Use common sense when cooking. Recipes are not always meant to be exact. Use your head when you cook.
7) Don’t deep fry in olive oil. uch.
You have to “need” a gadget more than 3 times a year in order to own it. This is Susie’s rule for knowing when to buy something for the kitchen. For example, if you deep fry food only for Purim, there is no need to own a deep fryer. But if you deep fry a few times a year - it’s probably cost sensible to own it.
For Susie, when she does buy a gadget, she buys one for milchig, fleishig, parve for the year and another milchig, fleishig, parve - for Pesach. (makes 6 of every gadget).
Esther gave me the encouragement and push to do this radio interview with Nachum Segal.

Well it’s been 5 days since the DVDs have officially been out and available.
So far, it’s been good — not flying off the shelves and selling out but a slow and steady trickle of sales, which I guess is all you could really hope for at this point.
We’ve also attended a number of pre-Chanukah boutiques as vendors. My good friend SL Yudkowitz and her mother did a great job in Monsey, and Adiel and I went to Teaneck on Motzai Shabbos. Then, we split up - me doing Union, NJ and Adiel doing Far Rockaway (TAG). He did loads better than me, I guess Far Rockaway is just waaaayyyy cooler than New Jersey. Despite the fact that we didn’t have hordes of people just fighting to buy the dvd, we managed to sell a bunch, gave information and answered questions to a bunch more, and got oursleves noticed to hundreds who otherwise would have never heard of us.
The name of the game now is exposure - planting seeds and hoping they will grow. Even if someone does not want to buy the dvd right now, the thought is in their mind and as we do more advertising and publicity, and get more and more people excited and into it, hopefully sales will keep picking up.
